Putin: Belarus, Russia are gearing up to sign agreement on common electricity market

Belarus and Russia are getting ready to sign an agreement on the common electricity market, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in the Kremlin in Moscow on 6 April, BelTA has learned.

According to the Russian leader, the development of joint oil and gas markets of the two countries continues. “An agreement on a common electricity market is being prepared for signing,” Vladimir Putin said.
The president also said that Russia and Belarus would continue to increase their cooperation in defense and security, and expand cooperation in the military and technical sector. “It certainly meets the fundamental interests of our countries and peoples,” the Russian head of state said. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] raised the issue of extending some of our previous agreements. I fully and completely support this and for my part I ask our Security Council to work on everything that the president of Belarus has set today as a priority task in this area.”
