Lukashenko wants equal living conditions in rural areas, cities

The head of state noted that the three-year campaign “Year of Native Land” is nearing completion. “I must say, we have done a lot. The work we started will be completed. All agro-towns will be spruced up. Villages, which were centers of agricultural collective farms are mostly in good condition. There are some pieces of neglected land in villages. By the end of this year we will make a decision to sell abandoned houses and estates to people following simple, intelligible rules and for acceptable prices, sometimes just for a symbolic fee,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The Belarusian leader noted that the task of the state is to create infrastructure. “People in rural areas should have a comfortable living environment, no worse than in cities. This is what the regional politics is about! There is no need to make anything up. There is no need to listen to this never ending criticism from the opponents that regions do not have enough powers, that local elections will solve all the regional problems and give some mythical freedom to business. We have already gone down that path,” the president said.
