Internal stability is the only guarantee for Belarus' survival, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a session to discuss topical issues on 9 October, BelTA has learned.

“We need to understand that we are experiencing unprecedented external turbulence. Internal stability is the only guarantee for Belarus' survival. If we maintain stability inside Belarus, we will survive, if not, we will be divided,” the head of state said.

He noted that during the election campaign he had warned against many dangers and challenges that the country would face. “Remember I told you that the election would be very interesting and the post-election period even more interesting? You took it as no more than a beautiful phrase. However, today everyone agrees with it. I told you that the pandemic would go away and so would the coronavirus, but where would we be? Remember I told you that Belarus would be put to a test? All this has materialized and is happening now. We should survive. If we want to be called people, if we are a nation, we should stand together and endure it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
