By July 2022 Belarus and Russia will determine the operating principles of the common gas market, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“By 1 July next year, we are supposed to determine how the common gas market of Belarus and Russia will function, how the gas price for Belarus will be set. All this is meant for a long term,” Roman Golovchenko said.

Four out of 28 reconciled Union State programs deal with energy matters: these are programs to set up the common markets of gas, oil and electricity, while the fourth program is devoted to nuclear energy.

The price for Russian gas for Belarus in 2022 will remain the same as in 2021. Now Belarus pays $128.5 per thousand cubic meters of Russian gas, while on the European market the price has recently skyrocketed to reach $650. By 1 December 2023, a document to create the common gas market within the Union State will be signed.
