Belarus' farm exports up by 17.3% in 2021

In 2021, Belarus' exports of food products and agricultural raw materials totaled $6.7 billion, up by 17.3% over 2020. This is a record high figure for Belarus, Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said at a press conference in Minsk on 11 February, BelTA has learned.

"Exports in 2020 amounted to $5.8 billion. In 2021 we approached the mark of $6.7 billion," said Igor Brylo. “In 2021 the major market for us was the Russian Federation. Last year it consumed $4.8 billion of Belarus' farm exports (although its share has been decreasing in the total volume of supplies amid Belarus' market diversification efforts). The second largest market for Belarus was China. Out exports there surged by almost 48%. Kazakhstan went third, with an increase of 11.5%. Exports to the CIS countries, including Russia, rose by 13% and amounted to $5.5 billion Belarus' exports to non-CIS countries went up by more than 40%."
According to him, work will be continued on further diversification of sales markets. Last year, Belarusian food was supplied to more than 100 countries. New markets were Cambodia, Kuwait, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Zambia, Congo, Antigua, Andorra, Iceland, San Marino, and Slovenia.
