Lukashenko, Putin discuss regional situation, economy, defense, security in phone call

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has talked to President of Russia Vladimir Putin over the phone, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

The heads of state exchanged opinions about the situation in the region and prospects of its development.

Economic matters were also discussed as well as the realization of the economy and security agreements reached during a recent official visit of the Russian leader to Minsk.

The heads of state discussed matters of defense and security as a separate block of the conversation.

Joint work and avenues of cooperation abroad, beyond boundaries of the Union State of Belarus and Russia were also on the agenda.

The presidents of Belarus and Russia also reconciled the schedule for future contacts.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also congratulated Vladimir Putin on Russia Day.
