Law on Belarus' central state budget for 2023 published

Law No.231-3 on the republican budget for the year 2023 has been published. The law is dated by 30 December 2022, BelTA learned from the national legal information registry.

In line with the law revenues of the central state budget are expected to reach Br33,362.4 million in 2023. Most of them will traditionally come from the value added tax, taxes on foreign trade operations, excise duties, income tax, and profit tax.

Expenses of the central state budget are expected to hit Br36,536.2 million in 2023.

Social sphere will remain in focus of the budget policy in 2023. The state budget will finance various social policy spheres such as social security, pensions, assistance for families with kids, the realization of the state youth policy, assistance with housing provision, and other matters to the tune of Br2,639.7 million. Other appropriations include Br2,103.2 million for healthcare, Br1,635.4 million for education, Br2,772.3 million for national defense, Br867.2 million for agriculture, and Br228.6 million for transport.

The central state budget is supposed to spend Br4,075.6 million on servicing the state debt in 2023.

The state budget will transfer Br1,934 million to the state extrabudgetary fund for the social protection of the population and Br7,619.5 million to municipal budgets, including Br4,946.4 million as subsidies and Br2,673.1 million as subventions.
