January 4. Not a single neutral athlete will participate in the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics which will be held in Gangwon, South Korea, the press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) told TASS.

The qualification period for the competition ended in December.

"Not a single individual neutral athlete has been qualified to participate in the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics," a press service representative said replying to a question as to whether young athletes from Russia and Belarus will participate in the event in South Korea.

In late March 2023, the IOC recommended that individual athletes from Russia and Belarus be permitted to compete in international sports tournaments, but only under certain conditions. Specifically, athletes from the two countries should not have voiced "active support" for Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and must compete under a neutral status.
