The State Control Committee routinely fights the payment of envelope salaries and intends to come forward with a number of relevant legislative initiatives, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov on 1 March.

The official described the payment of envelope salaries as a burning problem. In his words, the State Control Committee and its Financial Investigations Department are taking a closer look at the matter. “Concrete results have been achieved,” the official said. “We are going to do it routinely and will put forward a number of legislative initiatives in order to prevent the problem from ever surfacing again.”

“I encourage citizens to help us fight the problem. People who are paid the salaries should be interested in fixing it. They should be paid salaries according to the books in order to avoid troubles later on,” Vasily Gerasimov stressed. For instance, if the employer does not pay dues to the social security fund, the employee will not get a pension.
