Makei, Lavrov discuss development of situation in Belarus

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov talked over the phone on 10 August, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Vladimir Makei informed Sergei Lavrov about results of the finished presidential election campaign. In turn, Sergei Lavrov asked Vladimir Makei to convey his congratulations to the Belarusian head of state.

Vladimir Makei and Sergei Lavrov exchanged opinions about the current development of the situation in Belarus, including from the point of view of interference of external forces in domestic political processes. The sides also discussed the issue of the work of individual representatives of Russian mass media, who work in Belarus without the corresponding accreditation.

The sides agreed to continue interaction between the ministries of foreign affairs and diplomatic missions, including for the sake of resolving emerging issues of practical nature.
