“On the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the governments of the two countries led by Mikhail Mishustin and Roman Golovchenko have reached a higher level of dialogue, mutual understanding, and interaction,” Dmitry Mezentsev stressed.
“The economic integration is advancing successfully. We will never let this dialogue become unequal or one-sided,” Dmitry Mezentsev said. “I believe that the upcoming talks between the prime ministers will reaffirm commitment to forward movement, which manifests itself in many ways,” he added.
Sanctions have put Russia and Belarus under unprecedented pressure, Dmitry Mezentsev pointed out. “This has hurt our export opportunities, export markets, and loan possibilities. What shall we do in response? We shall stand together and come up with joint plans and algorithms of cooperation that will make us stronger and more competitive,” he said.
“Our adversaries sometimes reproach us for having disputes over meat, gas, oil, or kefir, which sours our relations. Nothing of the kind. No disputes between economic entities can overshadow the strategic nature, scale, and level of our cooperation,” Dmitry Mezentsev added.
On 2 April, the Palace of the Republic in Minsk is hosting the solemn meeting “The Union State: New opportunities” to mark the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. The event has brought together heads of government authorities, the Union State Standing Committee and its office in Minsk, public associations, and other organizations. Participants from Moscow have joined the event via videoconferencing.
The agenda of the meeting includes the discussions “Common legal space, defense, and security as the basis of the Union States”, “Economic potential of the Union State: Status and prospects”, “Social projects and the youth as a driver of innovative development of the Union State”.
