Belarus' Constitutional Commission to convene first meeting on 31 March

The Constitutional Commission will hold an kick-off session on 31 March, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko told the media, BelTA has learned.

The speaker of the lower house of the Belarusian Parliament recalled that many proposals to amend the Constitution were submitted during the work of the dialogue platforms and sent to the parliament. "We intend to convene a kick-off meeting of the Constitutional Commission on 31 March to outline a plan of action and to start concrete work on the proposals," Vladimir Andreichenko said.
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed presidential decree No.105 to establish a constitutional commission to implement provisions of the resolution of the 6th Belarusian People's Congress. The Constitutional Commission shall work out proposals to amend Belarus' Constitution and ensure their nationwide discussion. If necessary, the commission shall involve executives and specialists of government agencies and other organizations in its work. The Constitutional Commission shall forward proposals to amend the Constitution to the Belarus president by 1 August 2021 for their consequent submission for a nationwide referendum.
