Belarus cautions Poland against using provocations at border

Belarus would like to in advance caution Poland against using any provocations directed against Belarus in order to justify possible illegal use of force against dispossessed and unarmed people, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The source said: “We would like to in advance caution Poland against using any provocations directed against the Republic of Belarus in order to justify possible illegal use of force against dispossessed and unarmed people, among whom there are plenty of underage children and women.”

Due to the sharp deterioration of the migration situation near the Belarusian-Polish border the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seriously concerned about fates of the people, who use any means to enter countries of the European Union. The ministry believes the situation is a direct consequence of Warsaw's lengthy ignoring of the objective reality and manifestly “ostrich-like” approaches to the resolution of serious problems.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs went on saying: “Poland's failing attempts to shift the responsibility for the dynamically developing migration situation onto Belarus look extremely inelegant in these circumstances. We've repeatedly encouraged our neighbors to have a meaningful dialogue and constructive interaction between the relevant agencies to discuss important transboundary matters of undoubted common interest.”

“Free interpretation and selective observance of human rights have already become the signature style of supporters of forceful democratization of individual countries and entire regions. It is this democratization that provokes such migration flows. We believe that Poland's attitude to foreigners seeking shelter and protection will become another test and a litmus test that will show the true adherence of the Polish government to principles of international law, humanism, high democratic standards in the area of human rights protection,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
