The State Secretary of the Union State commented to journalists on the results of the presidential election in Belarus. In the opinion of the State Secretary of the Union State, the support of Belarusian citizens for Aliaksandr Lukashenka at the election confirms the correctness of the course being pursued in the country.

"Alexander Lukashenko's victory in the presidential election, such a convincing result, such a large-scale support of the citizens of Belarus for their national leader confirms the fairness and success of the course proposed throughout the years of Alexander Lukashenko's presidency, which has ensured the positioning of Belarus as a dynamically developing and socially oriented state," Mezentsev stressed.

The State Secretary of the Union State noted the cohesion of the Belarusian society, which respects its own history and the feat of the Soviet soldier, who won the Great Patriotic War.

"This is an example for very many European countries," said Dmitry Mezentsev. He expressed confidence that the integration work carried out between the two countries is the result of the high level of relations that the leaders of Belarus and Russia have today.

"It is especially significant that Alexander Lukashenko said that his first visit as the newly elected President of Belarus will, of course, be to Moscow. I am confident that the next period of Alexander Lukashenko's presidency will be a period of strengthening Belarusian-Russian co-operation," the State Secretary of the Union State concluded.
