Sabalenka makes 2026 Indian Wells semifinals

Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka has reached the 2026 Indian Wells semifinals, BelTA has learned.

In the quarterfinal, the Belarusian defeated Canada’s world number 10 Victoria Mboko, 7-6 (7-0), 6-4. The match lasted one hour and 50 minutes. At the current tournament, Aryna Sabalenka has also defeated Japan’s Hineme Sakatsume (World’s No. 132), 6-4, 6-2, Romania’s Jacqueline Cristian (No.35), 6-4, 6-1, and Japan’s Naomi Osaka (No.16), 6-2, 6-4. In the match for a spot in the final, the Belarusian will face either world number 14 Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic or Australia’s world number 112 Talia Gibson.
The event in Indian Wells will conclude on 15 March. In last year’s final, Aryna Sabalenka lost to Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, and in the decisive match of 2023, she was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina. Belarusian Victoria Azarenka won the tournament in 2012 and 2016.
