Belarusian chess player Venskaya becomes U14 world champion in rapid and blitz

Belarusian chess players have won five medals at the FIDE World Cadet and Youth Rapid & Blitz Championship 2026, BelTA has learned.

The chess tournament featured players aged 8 to 18. Team Belarus’ tally includes two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze. Four of the medals were won in rapid chess, and one in blitz. The only medal in blitz was earned by Nika Venskaya, who became the best among girls under 14. Earlier, Nika Venskaya also won the rapid chess event.


In between the World Championship competitions, the 1st FIDE World Blitz Solving Championship was held. Nika Venskaya took third place in the individual standings and, together with Katrina Yakovleva, came first in the team event. Additionally, Belarus’ Miraslava Shatsila achieved the second-best result in the girls U-8 group.
