Belarus’ Karaliova, Machakhina finish sixth in team sprint at Russian Championships

Belarusian athletes Hanna Karaliova and Hanna Machakhina finished in the top six at the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Championships in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, BelTA has learned.

Fourteen pairs from various regions of Russia, as well as one Belarusian duo, took part in the team sprint classic. Karaliova and Machakhina covered the distance in 28 minutes and 49 seconds, finishing sixth. The Belarusians finished five and a half seconds behind the winners, Ekaterina Evtyagina and Natalya Kramarenko from Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast. The representatives of the Komi Republic and the Republic of Tatarstan also made it into the top three.
Earlier at the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Championships, Hanna Karaliova rounded out the top ten in the individual sprint and took 12th place in the skiathlon, while Hanna Machakhina finished 48th and 30th in those disciplines, respectively. The tournament in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk will conclude on 8 March, with the program to continue with relay races and 50 km marathons.
