Plans have been made to offer more opportunities for spending family capital. Belarusian Labor and Social Protection Minister Irina Kostevich made the statement as she presented the government's action program for the period till 2025 in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on 2 December, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “It is being discussed. We are arranging dialogue platforms in the regions in order to discuss the matter. The ministry is receiving a lot of petitions in favor of offering more ways to spend family capital.”

As a rule, large families who intend to spend their family capital ahead of schedule do so in order to improve their accommodations. This is why a number of petitions suggest expanding the possibilities for using the money in the course of home construction. For instance, they suggest tapping into family capital in order to repay construction loans granted by the employer.

Proposals have also been submitted in favor of expanding the list of commercial medical services family capital can be spent on.

“We are collecting a package of proposals submitted by large families and will think about the possibility of expanding [the use of] family capital,” Irina Kostevich said.
