Health expert: Mask policy might remain in place in Minsk for several months

The mask mandate in Minsk might remain in place for several coming months, Minsk Chief Sanitary Doctor Svetlana Yermak told journalists on 11 December, BelTA has learned.

“People will have to comply with this strict requirement for several coming months,” Svetlana Yermak said as she spoke about the timeframe of the mandatory mask policy in Minsk.

The anti-coronavirus measures in the capital are reasonable and aimed at reducing the number of new cases, she noted. “These measures go in line with the recommendations implemented across the globe. They also include awareness-raising activities, which is one the main steps according to the World Health Organization,” Svetlana Yermak added.

Mandatory wearing of face masks was introduced in Minsk on 12 November. People are to wear face coverings at workplaces and in all public places. Face masks are also compulsory in public transport, including fixed-route taxis, metro, taxis.
