Belarusian Railways has commissioned a new automated complex for inspecting and diagnosing the state of infrastructure facilities, BelTA has learned.

The new complex can control over 100 various parameters of infrastructure. It automatically takes measurements and stores them in a database thanks to special software.

The new complex will greatly improve oversight over the technical state of the entire railway infrastructure, which directly affects the safety of train traffic. The number of inspections will be decreased, which will allow the company to save resources. The lack of the human factor is one of the important differences the new equipment boasts.

Belarusian Railways specialists will be able to use the new complex to draft plans for the routine maintenance and repairs of infrastructure facilities. The new complex is highly autonomous – in addition to operator workstations it has a canteen and residential compartments for the personnel.

The complex is going through a field performance program but Belarusian Railways is already convinced of its effectiveness. It has inspected 2,185km of railways over the course of 11 days.
