Last year, Belarusian rescuers participated in humanitarian operations, assorted and delivered relief consignments to Syria, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Moreover, they rendered assistance in putting out fires in Turkey. Last year two Belarusian MI-8 aircraft worked in this country: one - from June 1st, the other one - from July 1st to November 1st.
“This year we are signing an agreement. We are going to work from May 1st until late autumn to extinguish fires in Turkey,” said Vladimir Vashchenko.
He also added that representatives of Greece made a similar request. However, the company did not manage to win a contact.
The minister also noted that they pay very serious attention to training activity of Belarusian rescuers. Merits of Belarusian rescue units are highly appreciated and fully recognized by the international community.
“Last year, we ensured safety at the II European Games. A lot of work was done and it yielded positive results. We also took part in exercises, including international ones, and were highly appreciated everywhere,” added Vladimir Vashchenko.
