The joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia "Zapad-2025" begins in Belarus today

The joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation "Zapad-2025" begins in Belarus today, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus reports.

The exercise will be held from September 12 to 16 at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

Its purpose is to work out joint actions of the Belarusian and Russian troops in the framework of ensuring the military security of the Union State and readiness to repel possible aggression.

The key aspects of the training that the exercise focuses on are improving the skills of command and staff in managing troops in repelling aggression, increasing the level of interaction between command authorities and field training of military personnel, as well as working out joint actions to neutralize threats and stabilize the situation on the borders of the Union State.

"Zapad" exercise is a planned exercise preceded by a series of preparatory maneuvers on the territory of both countries.

The exercises on the territory of the Republic of Belarus are conducted at training grounds located in the interior of the country or in its eastern regions, and are defensive in nature.
