The West's destructive policies are increasing the risk that nuclear, chemical or biological weapons would be used., Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said at a meeting of secretaries of the CIS Security Councils in Moscow on 8 November, BelTA has learned.

"A natural consequence of the destructive policies of the United States has been the deterioration of the situation in the field of global security. Their irresponsible actions not only contribute to the exacerbation of the old crises and the emergence of new ones but also impede the peaceful settlement of conflicts, which we can see in the Middle East today," Nikolai Patrushev said.

He stated that the United States stimulates the growth of common threats and challenges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, and transnational organized crime. "The risk that nuclear, chemical and biological weapons will be used is increasing. Space and cyberspace is being militarized at an accelerated pace," the Russian top security official said.

"In the context of Ukraine, I would like to focus on the problems of biological protection and biosafety. We regularly receive the information about dangerous experiments conducted in the post-Soviet space by Western countries, primarily the united States," Nikolai Patrushev stressed.

He also noted that the West led by Washington is purposefully trying to destabilize the situation in “unsuitable countries”, provoking and supporting crises there. "The United States and its allies are systematically destroying the system of international law that took shape after World War II, imposing on the world the so-called 'rules-based order' - rules established by them alone, exclusively in their own interests," Nikolai Patrushev said. At the same time, Western states widely use coercive tools, including blackmail, manipulation of public opinion, threats of the use of force, and attempts at an unconstitutional change of power. " Special emphasis is made on purposefully destabilizing the situation in 'unsuitable' states, creating and subsequently supporting crisis situations in various regions of the world. In this process, NATO has finally turned into a tool of the West's collective aggression," he said.

The world order, centered around the interests of the West, is gradually collapsing, and this process is becoming irreversible. "The Anglo-Saxons and the collective West as a whole are losing influence, ceasing to be the main subject of international relations," Nikolai Patrushev said.
