Best practices of Belarus-Russia Union State should be scaled up in the EAEU, Olga Lazorkina, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR), told BelTA.

She believes that this year will be a landmark for both the Eurasian Economic Union and Belarus.

"Over the previous three years, we have implemented all the projects related to economy and finances, in particular within the Union State. Nowadays, we not only need to reach a new level of cooperation with Russia but also scale up the best practices that we have gained in the Union State in the EAEU. Moreover, the agenda between the EAEU, the Union State and global trends in general is very coordinated," the analyst stressed.

On 1 January 2025, Belarus assumed the presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union for the third time. In this connection, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, in his capacity as chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, sent an address to the heads of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. The address outlined the priorities for 2025.

The head of state named nine priority areas. According to Olga Lazorkina, the key focus will be placed on industrial cooperation, the development of a common transport space, digitalization and the EAEU international cooperation.
