Agreements allowing Russia to use army installations in Belarus to be extended

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved as the basis for negotiations a draft Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental protocol on extending the period of validity of the agreement on the use and maintenance of the radio station Vileika of 6 January 1995. The head of state signed relevant decree No.321 on 20 August, BelTA has learned.

The same decree approved as the basis for negotiations a draft intergovernmental protocol on extending the period of validity of the agreement on finishing the construction, usage, and maintenance of the Baranovichi node of the missile attack warning system of 6 January 1995.

The Defense Ministry has been authorized to conduct negotiations on the draft protocols and sign the documents if the sides come to terms within limits of the approved drafts.
