Before the meeting of the Commission on Agrarian Issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Andrei Balysh, Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy of the House of Representatives, told reporters , how cooperation between Belarus and Russia is developing in agriculture, BelTA has learned.

There are two key issues on the agenda related to strengthening cooperation in agriculture: the union programs "Horticulture of the Union State" and "Intelligent Farm of the Union State". "The whole world is striving for new technologies, and the Union State is not standing still. Belarus has an Academy of Sciences with powerful centers, strong industrial enterprises, and Russia is a key partner. We are joining forces in priority areas. This is important not only for food security, but also for bringing joint agricultural products to international markets, despite the difficulties," said Andrei Balysh.

These issues will be considered during the meeting and decisions will be made soon. "Their implementation will help our two agricultural countries strengthen their positions on the world market," he said.

Much has been achieved in agriculture in Belarus and Russia. "But there are problematic issues that we are working on together. We have strong breeders and production facilities. Unfriendly countries thought that sanctions on seeds and native breeds would stop us and leave us without food. But no, thanks to the sanctions, we are developing. We are conducting a collaboration, and the results will soon be shown not only in the domestic market of the two countries, but also beyond its borders," the deputy noted.

In addition to the Union State programs, the commission members will review the development of the Union State's joint project "Breeding Aggregator: a digital platform for large-scale cattle breeding", aimed at combining data from breeding farms, laboratories and research centers of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. The event is attended by representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
