On March 13, 2026, a meeting of the Commission on Science and Education of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia was held at the EcoTechnoPark-Volma Resource Center, a branch of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education. The event brought together a wide range of participants, including parliamentarians from both countries, representatives of relevant ministries, academies of sciences, as well as the Standing Committee of the Union State and the Youth Chamber, reports a Soyuz.by correspondent.

The key topic of the agenda was summing up the implementation of Union programs and activities for 2025. Parliamentarians noted that budget funds under the commission's purview were fully utilized. Thanks to the effective implementation of competitive procedures and cost optimization, savings were even achieved. This enabled the successful completion of planned scientific research and the implementation of a number of significant educational and patriotic events for young people in Belarus and Russia.

The meeting participants focused on plans for 2026. In the scientific field, the completion of a program aimed at developing advanced photonics technologies is expected. In the field of education, a comprehensive calendar of nine major events has been approved. These include: a Forum of Engineering and Technology Universities, a school Olympiad "Russia and Belarus: Historical and Spiritual Commonalities," patriotic camps for cadets and Suvorov cadets, a Student Team Rally, a "Memory Train," as well as environmental, historical, and legal camps for children from the families of law enforcement officers.

At the same time, the deputies noted that a number of promising projects are still in the approval stage. These include the creation of the Russian-Belarusian Technopark "Center for Inclusive Education," the organization of the "Visiting Professor" program, and the development of a unified textbook on the general history of the Union State. In this regard, the commission decided to take the situation under special review. The relevant ministries of the two countries have been instructed to submit progress reports by June 1, 2026, after which the issue will be reconsidered at the next meeting.
