Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak outlined promising areas for cooperation with Russia’s Murmansk Oblast as he met with Governor of Murmansk Oblast Andrei Chibis in Minsk on 2 March, BelTA has learned.

According to Anatoly Sivak, in the last six years the housing construction and renovation in the Kola Arctic have undergone significant changes, including within the framework of the governor's plan ‘Live in the North!’.

In this area, the Belarusian manufacturers participate in the renovation of housing stock and the replacement of elevators. Belarusian elevators are present on the market of Murmansk Oblast, including as a product of industrial cooperation and goods manufactured within the framework of joint production. “We reaffirm our commitment to stepping up efforts and increasing supplies, including taking into account the capabilities of the joint production Nevsky Lift,” the deputy prime minister noted.

Promoting cooperation in ensuring food security remains among the priorities, he added.
“The presence of a wide range of Belarusian products on the Russian market has long become the norm. Their popularity is due to their high quality. We are ready to increase food supplies to the region, including a wide range of dairy and meat products, goods with long shelf lives. We are interested in reciprocal supplies of seafood and fish products,” Anatoly Sivak noted.

In addition, the Belarusian side is interested in developing ties in science and education, sports and tourism.

Anatoly Sivak expressed the hope that the current visit of the Murmansk Oblast delegation to the Republic of Belarus will become another step toward strengthening relations, charting new ways and projects in bilateral cooperation. “We are ready to consider any constructive proposals from your side,” he added.
