Potato harvesting progress close to 20% in Belarus

Belarusian farmers have gathered in potatoes from 19% of the area under this crop, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian agricultural enterprises have harvested cereals and leguminous crops (including maize) from 2.159 million hectares, which is 87.5% of the targeted area. Progress was at 88.8% (357,100ha) in Brest Oblast, 98% (350,200ha) in Vitebsk Oblast, 84% (350,600ha) in Gomel Oblast, 87.3% (310,600ha) in Grodno Oblast, 84.2% (455,200ha) in Minsk Oblast, and 84.8% (335,600ha) in Mogilev Oblast.
Maize has been harvested from an area of 3,220ha, producing 25,300 tonnes with the average yield at 78.6 centners per hectare. Colza has been harvested from an area of 353,200ha (98.4% of the area under this crop), producing 898,200 tonnes with the average yield at 25.2 centners per hectare. Excluding this crop, all kinds of agricultural enterprises have gathered in 8.190 million tonnes of cereals.
Millet has been harvested from an area of 8,950ha (75.2% of the area under this crop), producing 20,100 tonnes with the average yield at 22.5 centners per hectare. Buckwheat has been harvested from an area of 24,600ha (71% of the area under this crop), producing 33,400 tonnes with the average yield at 13.6 centners per hectare.
Sugar beet has been harvested from 6,860ha, which makes up 7.45% of the targeted area. Potatoes have been harvested from 4,940ha (19% of the target area). Other vegetables have been harvested from 2,020ha or 29.8% of the targeted area.
In 2022 the government intends to buy 811,400 tonnes of cereals.
