Construction of second Belarusian nuclear power plant under consideration

The possibility of building another nuclear power plant in Belarus is under consideration, the president will receive the relevant proposal in 2022, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on 22 December.

Roman Golovchenko said: “The president has given instructions to consider building another nuclear power plant in another region of Belarus. It is not a simple matter. It is necessary to carry out a lot of economic calculations and scientific research bearing in mind the country's comprehensive development program.”

In his words, this work proceeds on schedule under the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and with assistance of Russian partners. “We intend to finish it by next autumn and will submit the relevant proposal to the president,” Roman Golovchenko said.
