Belarusian Bellegprom's garment, knitwear companies report foreign trade surplus in H1 2020

Garment and knitwear enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom reported a surplus in foreign trade in H1 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the concern.

“In H1 2020, export of enterprises of the knitwear industry reached $50.3 million, the garment industry – $21.5 million. As a result, these enterprises reported a surplus: $6.9 million in the garment industry and $22.7 million in the knitwear industry,” the press service said.
In the first half of 2020, Bellegprom's garment and knitwear enterprises produced Br267 million worth of goods. The industrial production index was 78% in the knitwear industry and 87% in the garment industry in comparable prices year-on year.
Bellegprom noted that the garment enterprises received Br12.9 million in revenues from sales of goods, up by 21.1% year-on-year.
The profit margin reached 13.4% in the knitwear industry and 16.3% in the garment industry.
The garment enterprises utilized Br3.3 million of capital investment, Br3.2 million of which was spent on new equipment. Polesie company attracted the most investment (Br2.5 million). The garment enterprises utilized Br953,000 of investment. Nadex and Kalinka companies attracted the most investment: Br313,000 and Br234,000 respectively.
The Belarusian state light industry Bellegprom concern comprises 96 organizations, including 76 industrial companies (textile, sewing, knitting and leather-footwear industries). They account for 60% of the country's total light industry output and 21% of Belarus' total non-food production.
