Belarus' Bellegprom light industry concern exports to 42 countries in H1

The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom shipped its products to 42 markets in the first half of 2020, BelTA reported.

“Companies affiliated with the Bellegprom concern manufactured $310 million worth of products in H1 2020, 53% of which were exported to 42 countries. The foreign trade surplus reached $78.6 million this year. Exports started growing in May ($14.7 million in April, $18.8 million in May, $27.3 million in June),” the press service noted.

The concern is actively working on diversifying exports and penetrating new markets. For example, in January-May Orsha Linen Mill nearly quadrupled the export of linen fabrics to Japan (up to $619,300). In addition to that, the first exposition of linen fabrics in Uruguay was arranged in May.

Grodno Footwear Factory Neman launched sales in the United States of America, while Dobrush Porcelain Factory and Vitebsk Carpets penetrated the market of Czechia. Lingerie made by Milavitsa is now available in Romania.

Leather producers have boosted sales on traditional markets. Minsk Leather Production Association increased sales to Poland from $33,800 up to $1.1 million, to Russia from $930,000 to $1.4 million. Bobruisk Tannery debuted on the Chinese market. The company shipped products worth $89,000 there.

The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom is an umbrella company for 96 organizations, including 76 manufacturing enterprises specializing in textiles, garments, knitwear, leather and footwear. The companies affiliated with the concern manufacture 60% of all light industry products and 21% of non-food products made in Belarus.
