Union State MPs hail effective cooperation of Belarus-Russia cooperation in security

Union State MPs hail effective cooperation of the ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia in security, the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia told BelTA while commenting on a video conference of the Commission on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention.

“The MPs reviewed the Union State budget execution in 2020 in terms of funding the programs and activities of the Parliamentary Assembly's Commission on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention. The programs execution ranged from 94% to 100%. Some of the events planned for 2020 were hampered by the pandemic and restrictions in force in Belarus and Russia. They were either postponed or canceled,' the press service noted.
The participants of the meeting reviewed the status of the plan of measures to develop the common migration space in the Union State for 2017-2020. The document provides for the activities of the ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia to prepare the international treaties in the field of migration, harmonize the legislation on migration policy, develop a draft concept of the Union State migration policy, to carry out joint activities and to provide HR support. "On 19 June 2020, an agreement was signed between the governments of Russia and Belarus on mutual recognition of visas and other issues related to the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons to the territory of the states participating in the Union State Treaty," the press service recalled. The MPs hailed the consistent and effective cooperation between the ministries and departments of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the development of the common migration space."
The MPs were reviewed the promising programs, activities and projects in the field of security, defense and crime prevention in the Union State. The participants of the meeting discussed the draft concept of the program "Ensuring public safety at railway and air transport facilities used for transport between Russia and Belarus." The program is aimed at improving public safety at transport facilities in Belarus and Russia, minimizing the risks of terrorism, optimizing the mechanisms of interaction of the internal affairs bodies on transport. The agenda also included the draft concept of the Union State program "Improving the penitentiary infrastructure of Belarus and Russia, social and medical assistance of the prison population, including improving the conditions of detention of juvenile offenders".
"As a result of the discussion, the MPs recommended the appropriate ministries and agencies to complete harmonization of these draft programs. The Standing Committee of the Union State has been asked to inform the Parliamentary Assembly's Commission on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention in a timely manner about the status of development of the promising programs l within the purview of the commission," the press service added.
