"A distinctive feature of the relations between our countries and peoples is that traditionally after elections or appointments the leadership of the Republic of Belarus pays its first visits to the Russian Federation. This clearly demonstrates that Belarus prioritizes its long-term strategic partnership with Russia," Aleksandr Turchin said.

The prime minister recalled that last year marked significant milestones in Belarus-Russia bilateral relations: the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Union State Foundation Treaty and the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Belarus and Russia. “We approached these anniversaries with great results, which once again confirm the correctness of the model of the Union State chosen by the heads of state. Today, it is one of the most successful examples of economic integration not only in the post-Soviet space but also globally. In this regard, we are focused on the clear implementation of the key directions of the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026. This document is our guide, a roadmap for further building the Union State,” the Belarusian prime minister emphasized.

He noted that Russia is Belarus' main trading partner, and last year saw record high levels of mutual trade. Aleksandr Turchin added that the talks between the Russian prime minister will cover a wide range of matters.
