The ceremony of laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for the diplomatic corps accredited in Russia was held in Moscow. Belarus is represented by State Secretary of the Union State Sergey Glazyev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Alexander Rogozhnik.

The ceremony, timed to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was accompanied by the Military Model Band of the Guard of Honour. Foreign diplomats honoured the memory of the fallen soldiers with a minute's silence.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that this commemorative action will unite representatives of all regions of the globe and show that "despite attempts to rewrite history, the memory of the events of those years is carefully preserved all over the world".
