Russian Railways will double the number of seats on the Lastochka train running between Moscow and Minsk from 1 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Russian railway company.

"Due to the high demand for the high-speed Lastochka train service, Russian Railways will double the number of cars in one of the trains,” the press service said. "This will allow us to offer passengers more tickets, while maintaining the usual schedule and high level of comfort."

The first ten-car train Lastochka No. 721 will depart from Moscow to Minsk on 1 September. It will run daily, departing from Moscow at 16.00 and arriving in Minsk at 22.55. Train No. 722 will depart from Minsk at 06.20 and arrive at the Belorussky railway station in Moscow at 13.10.

The Lastochka electric train is fitted out with the climate control systems with air disinfection functions, energy-saving LED lighting and environmentally friendly toilet facilities, and an infotainment system. Passengers with limited mobility are provided with lifts and specialized seats with a wheelchair mount and a button to call the car conductor.

"The Lastochka service on the Moscow-Minsk route is very popular. Since the launch of the service on 30 April, it has carried 170,000 passengers. The demand is due to the modern rolling stock, comfortable travel time (6 hours 55 minutes) and also a flexible pricing policy,” Russian Railways added.
