Russia's emergencies minister visits Belarus

Russia's Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Alexander Kurenkov is in Belarus on his first visit, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

The visit will last two days. Its main goal is to get acquainted with the activities of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus, Belarusian technologies and developments in the field of disaster prevention and relief, to discuss Belarusian-Russian cooperation to protect people from accidents, catastrophes and natural disasters.
Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky and Russia's Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Alexander Kurenkov visited the Khatyn memorial complex to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the tragic events in the history of the Belarusian state.
The Russian minister is set to tour OAO Pozhsnab, MAZ automaker, the fire rescue unit of the Minsk City Department of the Emergencies Ministry, the All Saints memorial church. Alexander Kurenkov will lay flowers at the crypt with soil from the places of burial of emergencies officers who died in the line of duty. The Russian minister will also tour the educational center for life safety at the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry.
The two ministers will hold a meeting to discuss joint response to transboundary emergencies; exchange of emergency monitoring data; supervision of the safety of construction and operation of the Belarusian NPP; compliance with the fire safety technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union; logistical support for rescue units; cooperation in the Chernobyl disaster relief in the context of the program of joint activities of Belarus and Russia.
