Poznyak: We are counting on the implementation of the Union DNA-Identification-2 program

The 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Role and Importance of Forensic Science and Forensic Expertise in Ensuring National Security" is taking place in Minsk. International experts are discussing current issues in forensic science and forensic examination.
As Vadim Poznyak, Head of the Scientific and Practical Center of the State Forensic Examination Committee, noted in an interview with Soyuz.by, cooperation with Russian colleagues is steadily developing.

"One of the largest projects we've completed is DNA identification. We're continuing to work in this area and expect that the DNA Identification 2 program will likely be implemented," noted Vadim Poznyak.
Reference: The program "Development of Innovative Genogeographic and Genomic Technologies for Identifying Personality and Individual Traits Based on the Study of the Gene Pools of the Union State's Regions" ("DNA Identification") includes two main components: research in medical genetics and research aimed at developing forensic science. Implementation of the program's activities enables identification by eye and hair color, age, and the study of psychological, ethnographic, and population characteristics. The program also determines a person's predisposition to various diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and others.
According to the expert, the foundation of national security depends, among other things, on the work of forensic experts.
"An expert's opinion can halt serious organized crime or prevent a catastrophe," says Vadim Poznyak. "Conferences like these gradually, in small steps, achieve a global result. That's our primary goal."
"Today, criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings are largely shaped by the inner convictions of the person leading them. We want these actions to be based on scientifically obtained facts," the speaker concluded.
The conference presented specialized technical means and equipment for conducting examinations and scientific research, as well as scientific, methodological and reference literature.
