Over 40 Belarusian students, teachers to join Memory Train project

As in previous years, the launch of the project will take place at Brest Fortress, Viktor Filipenko noted. "For the fourth year in a row, the project begins on a symbolic day, and it is no coincidence that Belarus is the starting point of the Memory Train route. The Great Patriotic War tragically began with the attack on Brest, and the heroism of its defenders is forever etched in history. As descendants, we must remember and honor this legacy," he emphasized.

Following a rigorous selection process, over 40 participants from Belarus, including the best 10th-grade students and youth leaders, were chosen to join the route. In total, around 200 school students from various countries will participate in the project.

The number of participants continues to grow. "The initiative started in 2022, students from Belarus and Russia took part in it. Over the past three years, the project has expanded, welcoming more countries. Last year, eight countries took part, and this year, the opening events of the Memory Train project will announce an even broader international reach," Viktor Filipenko stressed.

The students will travel through cities in Belarus and Russia, visiting historically significant locations. "The Memory Train route always includes unique sites. Organizers have carefully selected locations that hold deep symbolic meaning in the history of the Great Victory. This year, special attention was given to regional programs, ensuring that participants will visit well-known landmarks and also discover exclusive historical insights related to the Great Patriotic War," the deputy director explained.
