NAS of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement

22 April 2025, the signing of the Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences took place in the NAS of Belarus. The document was signed by First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoi, reported the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between NAS of Belarus and St. Petersburg Branch of RAS is aimed at expanding joint fundamental and applied research and development in the most important areas of science and technology progress, as well as creating conditions for the development of scientific schools, training of scientists of higher qualification, advanced training of scientists and specialists of NAS of Belarus and St. Petersburg Branch of RAS, as well as the implementation of joint projects. The strategic partnership of scientists of the NAS of Belarus and the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences involves coordination of actions and joining efforts in the field of science, technology and education. The parties agreed to promote various forms of cooperation. Among them:
commercialization of the results of joint research activities;
organization of mutually beneficial international contacts in the field of science and technology;
joint participation in applications for national and international grants; organization of programmes for education and training of personnel of higher scientific qualification;
holding joint international conferences, symposiums and seminars to promote the achievements of scientists from Belarus and Russia, etc.
On 22 April 2025, negotiations between the leadership of NAS of Belarus and the delegation of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences headed by the Rector of St. Petersburg Peter the Great Polytechnic University, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudsky, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences took place. In the course of the talks, promising directions and mechanisms of joint scientific and technical activities were discussed. In the near future a roadmap for the implementation of the Agreement and expansion of cooperation between scientists will be developed. Among the areas of mutual interest: physics and engineering sciences, biology, medicine for life, pharmacology, research in Antarctica, etc.
21 - 24 April 2025 a delegation of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences visited NAS of Belarus. The guests got acquainted in detail with the latest developments of scientists, which are presented at the permanent exhibition ‘Achievements of Domestic Science - Production’. The programme of the visit included visits to a number of scientific organisations: State Scientific Institution ‘Institute of Physics named after B.I.Stepanov NAS of Belarus’, State Scientific Institution ‘Institute of Applied Physics NAS of Belarus’, State Scientific Institution ‘Institute of Powder Metallurgy named after Academician O.V.Roman’.
