Minsk to host Belarus-Russia parliamentary hearings on migration policy on 7 April

The Belarusian-Russian parliamentary hearings “Topical Issues of Migration Policy: Practical Solutions and Prospects of Legislative Regulation” will take place in the Oval Hall of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus in Minsk on 7 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

“The event will be aimed at increasing the efficiency of migration policy measures, development of ways to attract foreign migrants in demand on the labor market, the determination of mechanisms of employers' needs in the influx of labor and the formation of a unified labor market. The participants of the meeting will also discuss issues regarding control and monitoring of migration processes within the Union State, taking into account security issues, ways to respond to migration crises and the role of international organizations in solving the problems associated with the mass movement of large groups of refugees and migrants,” the press service said.

Invited to attend the hearings will be members of the Parliamentary Assembly, MPs of Belarus and Russia, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, the Standing Committee of the Union State, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Executive Committee, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the International Organization for Migration, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Belarusian Red Cross, leading political experts, scientists and representatives of the expert community.

“The parliamentary hearings are stipulated by the regulations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Taking part in the event are MPs of the Parliamentary Assembly and invited persons. At the parliamentary hearings MPs of the Parliamentary Assembly and invited persons discuss draft laws, draft concepts, draft budget of the Union State, as well as other significant issues related to the Union State construction. Following the parliamentary hearings recommendations are adopted that may be published in the official documents of the Parliamentary Assembly and mass media,” the press service added.
