Interregional cooperation creates a solid foundation for the further construction of the Union State and the strengthening of our integration. "Interregional cooperation creates a solid foundation for the further construction of the Union State and the strengthening of our integration. We must be aware of this and move actively in this direction. This is especially important in the challenging times in which we live," said Valentina Matviyenko.
She noted that prior to the Forum of Regions and during its sessions, 323 cooperation documents had been signed, which speaks to the effectiveness of this format of work. Valentina Matviyenko also pointed out that cooperation between the countries is becoming deeper year by year. At the same time, the potential in this area is far from exhausted.
The Chairperson of the Federation Council called on the meeting participants to have a frank discussion about the issues that are hindering the development of cooperation between the two countries. At the same time, she proposed to focus on projects that will create something new and forward-looking, rather than merely import-substituting products. "With such smart people as we have in Russia and Belarus, we can be ahead of the rest of the world. Without a modern economy, we will have neither strong social protection nor modern jobs," emphasized Valentina Matviyenko.
