Lukashenko appoints Seliverstov vice-premier for relations with Russia

Yuri Seliverstov, who has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation, will also concurrently serve as Belarus’ authorized representative to the CIS Economic Council, as well as Belarus’ special representative for integration cooperation within the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the EAEU, the CIS, and the CSTO. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the corresponding decree No. 27 on 22 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

According to the decree, Yuri Seliverstov has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Belarus’ activities within the Union State and for relations with Russia. He will represent Belarus in contacts with officials and government bodies of Russia and the Union State on matters of bilateral cooperation, and will submit proposals on trade, economic and investment cooperation with Russia to the Belarusian government, Belarusian government bodies, regional executive committees, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and other institutions and organizations. He will also coordinate the activities of Belarusian government agencies and other organizations that are subordinate to the government, as well as the work of Belarusian representatives in the bodies of the Union State. He will issue instructions to these entities and ensure that they are implemented.

Yuri Seliverstov is personally responsible for promoting Belarus' national interests within the Union State and in relations with Russia.
