On the eve of the Day of Remembrance in the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the administration of the Leninsky District, labor collectives, public organizations, and political parties of the Leninsky District laid flowers at the memorial on the Island of Tears.

Among those who participated in the commemorative events were representatives of the Permanent Committee of the Union State.

Exactly 37 years ago, the war in Afghanistan ended, becoming a test for an entire generation of Soviet soldiers and officers. On this day, the participants honored the memory of their fellow countrymen who did not return from the battlefields, and paid tribute to those who, having passed through the crucible of combat, now live and work alongside us.

The ceremony was attended by people from different generations. For many of them, this is not just an official date on the calendar, but a personal story — the story of their fathers, brothers, and sons. The laying of flowers was a symbol of shared sorrow and pride in the feat of our fellow countrymen.

"It is important for us that representatives of the public and young people came with us today. This means that the memory is alive. The internationalist soldiers not only fulfilled their duty with honor, but they continue to serve their homeland by raising young people to be true patriots," the participants of the event said.

The flowers were laid at the foot of the memorial church as a sign of eternal gratitude to those who went through the trials of war and those who did not return.
