Belarus-Russia interparliamentary relations discussed

Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova met with Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the CIS IPA Valentina Matviyenko in St. Petersburg as part of the spring session of the CIS IPA, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

The parties discussed the development of the Belarusian-Russian interparliamentary relations and emphasized the intensity of personal contacts.

Natalya Kochanova and Valentina Matviyenko stressed that the recent meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State gave a new impetus to the parliamentary cooperation. In their speeches, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly defined the key vectors of the development of bilateral relations.

The two speakers discussed in detail the preparations for the 10th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, which is due to take place in Ufa in summer.
