Belarus, Russia drafting Union State documents to streamline SPOT procedure

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are drafting Union State documents that seek to simplify the SPOT procedure (the system for confirming the dispatch of goods) for Belarusian exporters, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky told journalists following a report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA reports.

“When it comes to cooperation with the Russian Federation, our eastern partners have been using their notification system for goods entering Russia [SPOT] for over three months. We can see that this creates certain inconveniences for Belarusian exporters when it comes to control at the Belarusian-Russian border. However, we do not see any serious problem here,” the head of the State Customs Committee said.
According to him, only a small number of trucks, literally 0.5%, fail to cross the border and turn back due to the lack of the necessary paperwork. “But on the whole, we do not yet see a major problem here,” Vladimir Orlovsky noted.
“Joint Union State documents are currently being drafted together with the Russian Federation, and they are designed to simplify this procedure and improve the situation for Belarusian exporters,” he said.
