Belarus, Russia discuss efforts to counter falsification of WWII history

Representatives of the Scientific and Practical Center of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus and the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation discussed efforts to counter the falsification of the history of World War II and the rehabilitation of Nazism, BelTA learned from the center.

The working meeting was held via videoconference as part of the implementation of a decision of the joint board of the offices of the prosecutors general of Belarus and Russia.
The agenda included countering the falsification of the history of World War II and the rehabilitation of Nazism, and efforts to combat the spread of Nazi materials and symbols. The participants discussed the state of legislation governing these matters in Belarus and Russia, challenges in incorporating international legal instruments aimed at countering the rehabilitation of Nazism into national legislation.
At the end of the meeting, the participants identified possible areas for developing national legal regulation to counter these challenges and threats and to preserve historical memory and the truth about the heroic feat of the Soviet people during the war. They also formulated and agreed on approaches to harmonizing Belarusian and Russian legislation in this area.
