Belarus and Russia expand cooperation in hydrometeorology

Belarus and Russia are planning to strengthen cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology, the Republican Center of Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control and Environmental Monitoring of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported.

Belhydromet hosted a meeting of the institution's management and specialists with the representatives of the Russian Trade Mission in Belarus, where they discussed the issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring.

One of the foreground areas was the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring the hydrological and meteorological situation. The parties exchanged experiences and discussed the prospects for using UAVs for the prompt collection of data on the state of the atmosphere and water resources.

The possibility of developing the REANET project, aimed at creating a regional climate observation network, were also discussed.

Special attention was paid to the proposals ofRussian companies engaged in the development and production of modern equipment for hydrometeorological services.

The parties discussed the possibility of acquiring and implementing new technical means to improve the efficiency of environmental monitoring in Belarus.
