Strong ties have been built between Belarus and Russia thanks to the policy pursued by the two presidents, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the meeting of the 65th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

“The 65th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is drawing to a close. Today we have adopted the Union State budget for 2024. I am convinced that it will become an effective tool to implement important projects and programs in such areas as energy, information technology, space, medicine, agriculture and border security,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.

Currently, Belarus and Russia continue working to implement key objectives of the Union State Treaty set for 2021 - 2023, the speaker noted. “Twenty-two Union State programs have been fully implemented, which is 94% of the plan. In general, Belarus-Russia relations are making progress in all areas. Thanks to the strategies pursued by our heads of state, strong ties have been built between Belarus and Russia. This is facilitated by various formats of intergovernmental and interparliamentary interaction, joint commissions and inter-sectoral working groups, close contacts between the regions,” he emphasized.

“This year, 87 delegations of various levels from Russian regions have visited Belarus, and 96 Belarusian official delegations have traveled to Russian regions,” added Vladimir Andreichenko. “In the current difficult situation, meaningful results have been achieved. In January-October 2023, trade was estimated at $39.8 billion, up 9% year-on-year. Joint programs and investment projects are being successfully implemented, cooperation is expanding, and the legal frameworks are being converged.”
