The 6th Belarusian People's Congress has clearly spoken in favor of the strategic cooperation between Belarus and Russia, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev told BelTA during the Belarusian People's Congress on 12 February.

“The delegates have clearly outlined the strategic cooperation with Russia in the Belarus-Russia Union State and identified priorities for the economic integration in a fashion that will go in line with Belarus' economic plans,” Ambassador Dmitry Mezentsev said. “We see that Aleksandr Lukashenko and all the delegates view the cooperation in the EAEU and the CIS as important,” he added.

“A lot of people took part in the discussion of matters that determine the country's future,” Dmitry Mezentsev noted.

“Belarus' life is closely connected with Russia and other partner nations,” the ambassador said. “It is important to make bilateral ties rich in interactions in economy, humanitarian and social affairs to strengthen our relations within the framework of our common history. People should feel this atmosphere of friendship and mutual interest, so that we could learn from our disagreements and misunderstandings in various areas,” he added.

According to Ambassador Dmitry Mezentsev, implementation of ambitious projects, such as the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, demonstrate the success of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation.
